What Are Dentures?

Dentures are false teeth, which are used to restore your smile if you’ve lost one or more teeth. Common causes of tooth loss include gum disease, extensive tooth decay, and injuries caused by dental trauma, such as a hard hit in a contact sport, a slip, and fall, or a car accident.

With dentures, you can restore your smile and your bite, eat your favorite foods once again, speak clearly, and feel confident about your appearance. Dentures are a fast and affordable way to restore your smile, and are almost always covered by dental insurance, making them a preferred option for many patients who are missing teeth.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are intended to restore your smile if you have lost one or several teeth, but your remaining teeth are strong and healthy. They are built using a metal and plastic framework, which supports several false teeth that fill the gaps where your missing tooth used to be. Partial dentures are securely held onto your healthy teeth using metal clasps.

Often, partial dentures are used as a temporary tooth replacement method until you can get a more permanent treatment like a dental bridge or a dental implant. However, some types of partial dentures are a good long-term solution for treating missing teeth, in some cases.
